Smart, and for smart kids.
Four children are introduced. At first they seem to have nothing in common. But as each one's story unfolds, we see the connections, and how much more similar they are than different. Though of course they pull together to reach for the prize at the end, they do so because of who they are, not because it's convenient to the story.
E.L. Konigsburg is a master storyteller, and a creator of the best kinds of children in literature == the believable ones whose lives, and words, and actions remain gripping despite their very natural and normal nature.
Highly recommended from fourth grade onward.
